Default WRX bugeye downpipe

Hi

I have a standard WRX 2001 bugeye, the downpipe is a goner!

If I change this with a 2.5" decat....

1) will it pass MOT
2) be any faster without a remap
3) need a remap

Look forward to the feedback,

Thanks

1: probably not, but you might get lucky if the other two cats are in tip-top condition
2: should be a little livelier
3: probably won't need one just off the back of that change, no.

Hi Splitpin

Cheers for the reply - I will probably just stick to replacing it with a standard one to avoid any other potential issues. I guess the theory is go all the way and modify everything or just keep it standard!

Does anyone know how easy/hard it is to change one of these?

Thanks

If non of the studs snap/bolt seized, and you have ramps that will allow you to drop the downpipe straight out, easy. If non of the previous apply varies from hard to explicit!

I have two ramps which I can get the front wheels on, so should lift ~0.5metres directly below the downpipe. I will give it a shot on the week-end.......

Cheers BBE

3" needed tio get above 350 BHP, should give you more power at all levels of tune though, GRD have some interesting figures on 2.5 vs 3" even at 'moderate' levels of tune the 3" out performed the 2.5 but only by a small amount. I'd go 3" straight out especially if you plan to go further in the future.
