Default HELP!! Hesitation on classic

Hi peeps

Have started getting some hesitation problems with my 1999 UK T 2000 with ecutec map.

It does not do it all the time but mainly when its upto operating temp and more often than not and only ever off boost. If i'm driving with light throttle it hesitates but as soon as the turbo kicks in or I put my foot right down to the floor it will clear its self. If I leave it hesitating it gets worse and worse, almost to the point of cutting out. Sometimes when gently pulling away from stand still it will bog down and not pull the skin off a rice pudding then all of a sudden it'll go. I have had it tuned to run on the high octain fuel and I had to put the 95 in her about a week before it started this problem as was runnig low and it was all I could put in! Grrr! But as soon as I could I filled it up with me norm!! I have fitted new spark plugs and o2 sensor since the problem but still the same.

Any advise or questions about this problem would be much appreciated

Oh and one other thing I forgot to mention was occasionally you can hear it pop/backfire thru the air intake!

sounds like a bad o2 sensor
strange since you've changed yours already

anyway, what i'd do to make an easy check is refit old dead o2 sensor, but don't plug it to wiring and drive around to see if the problem appears

you can unplug your new sensor, but it won't be heated and without heating chances are high it will be dead soon

without o2 sensor plugged in the car will be pig rich, but shouldn't hesitate

then i'm almost sure it's the new sensor. make the test and if the car don't hesitate with the sensor unplugged get a genuine subaru one. will be pricey a bit, but will sort the problem
