Why would you ? Improve the forced delivery of the existing setup coupled with a more free flowing panel should be more than sufficient I reckon. Early classic intakes just ran to the inner wing making the intake pretty short and immediate. These can be improved with better 'ducting' for want of a better word.

What exactly are you talking about trying to fit? The OE specification newage intake tract is dimensionally almost identical to the late classic version, there's nothing significantly "larger" about it up to the point you reach the MAF tube. However, from there, the newage airbox top has a smaller MAF tube (76 vs 80mm) than the late classics if I remember right (MAF sensor is different too, obviously)

The only part of it that is significantly bigger is the intake "trumpet" on the newage car. If that's what you are talking about, there are more effective ways of skinning that cat. Most people just delete the resonator and take a cold air supply from the front wing. The slightly better way to do it is to modify the resonator intake so it gets air from the same location.
