Default idle control valve help

hi ive got a 96 wrx with an engine check light coming up 2 4 idle control valve.got replacements knocking about in garage to replace but does the valve need setting upor adjusting side to side as the fitting holes seem like adjuster slots.thanks in advance for any help given.pete

take the whole thing off..
and give it a good clean out,theres three 10mm bolts that hold it on the inlet.!
undo them get some brake/clutch cleaner in a spray can,and go mad with it,then get a rag and give it a wipe down...
just one thing the pipes that are joined onto it are coolant hoses....
so dont remove them..
