Default sti3/4 vs avcs

hey guys
Doing a build at the mo, i currently have ported polished sti3/4 heads with larger Supertech valves rcm uprated springs, Titanium retainers, rcm Vernier Pulleys unsure on cams.
the engine is a sleved 2.5l with and a GT35r 0.82a.r will be running a Solaris s6pnp

My question is what would the advantges be of ditching the sti3/4 heads and going avcs? do the avcs heads have shims?

thanks tone

AVCS use shimless bucketless shims, as the ecu can control the heads why not give it a go you see an improvement in spool up and overall torque made

Tony,

I'd definatly advocate going for AVCS heads. I sold my fettled STI 5 Heads in favour of some 2006 WRX AVCS heads. The idea is to port and polish, uprate the valves and springs and go with some Cosworth S2 Cams. I've been told that these when paired up with my front mounted GT35R on my 2.5 should make my V3 Type R quite lairy
