Default help wont start and no dash lights

hi ive got a v5 sti type r came home earlier today drove fine as usual. Went to get back in couple hours later no lights on the dash and wont start no clock no handbrake light or battery light and no windows the radio and interior lights all working as are my gauges in centre console, it even chimes when keys are in with door open and door open light works any ideas guys ive checked all the fuses

Hmmmm, have you done the obvious and checked battery voltage? That doesn't sound like the explanation given what you've said, but doesn't do any harm to rule it out.

If you do, could be a number of explanations, but the root cause of this sounds like the loss of the main power rail.

I'd start by checking the main relay. When you turn the ignition switch from position 1 (Acc) to position 2 (ON), do you hear any clicking under the dash?

Also, if you turn the key all the way to "start", does the starter motor turn over like normal?

hi thanks for quick reply, still got voltage from battery showing on the gauges plus it turns over for ages on starter motor.

no clicks or noises when turning from acc position to on neither

As above, lack of clicking points in the direction of the main relay. The fact that it turns over fine on the starter motor clears the battery and pretty much exonerates the ignition key switch.

Found the main relay and changed it still nothing, could this be immobiliser on alarm even though it lets starter motor turn or is it more likely to do with wiring of main power rail thanks
