Default Adaptor loom on STI Wing mirrors ??

I Picked up a pair of Electric/Folding mirrors from an STI yesterday and they came with an adaptor loom for each mirror.

The loom has 5 wires;

Yellow, White, Blue (joined onto a small PCB in the centre and covered with black heatshrink tubing)

Blue/White & Blue/Black

Do I still need to use this adaptor loom when fitting the mirrors to my UK T2000 ? Or can I just remove the Blue/White & Blue/Black wires for the folding part and fit them to my existing car loom ?

Interesting: when I did mine last July, I adapted my own loom, but without the pcb bit.

I wonder what it is: will the vendor know? It MAY be an auto-close/open that works when the ignition is switched.

On your car you'll still need to run two wires EXTRA to what's already on the CAR's loom, on each side, from switch to those connectors.

Do a search under the username "tanyatriangles" for my thread on this from july, it was in electrical. It will help with how to wire.

I assume you have the switch?

Yeah, already have the switch.

I know I need to run 2 extra wires from each mirror to the switch, just need to know if I can take 2 of the wires from the supplied adaptor loom and plug them into my existing car loom or if I need to use the supplied adaptor looms but unplug 2 of the wires and extend them to the switch.

If that makes sense

Yes, it does.

But no-one except the person who made up YOUR loom can tell you the answer. You will probably have to remove the shrink-fit and post a pic of what's under it, so that we can see if someone can say what it is.

You can always re-wrap it with tape, or pick out the connectors at one end and refit shrink-fit.

It looks like a factory adaptor loom.
