1996 TURBO WREAKING SEVERLY
as above my missus 1996 turbo has always driven great never overheated has never used water never used oil etc etc, then last night doing a less than 1m trip along road massive amounts of wreak coming out exhaust more than i ever seen!!
so today started up and clouds of whitish steam i would say still coming out,
done compression test earlier passenger side both similar bout 155 psi and plugs looked fine dry etc.
drivers side front was 110psi plug fine and rear one was 165psi but totally soakin wet looked and smelt like water or coolant deff was not fuel i would say.
now im no mechanic lol but would you say head gasket then?
obviously gonna have to strip it to have a proper look but temp gauge has never been past its normal halfwayish point or anything car never been dynod or tracked or anything, it is 1995 and pretty much standard engine maybe just time for it go?

yeah, its just i read a few posts about heads off etc and gaskets etc all fine, as i have no garage and no engine lift equipment whatevers getting done it will be at roadside, and i know its gonna be a nightmare so want to get it right first time, looks like engine gonna need lifted a bit to get head out not much room never done one of these before

i'm guessing as the thing has never overheated or had any problems, if it is the head gasket the heads will be fine and no need for skimming as there pretty tuff so i hear, so hopefully when i get to it, there will be a clear marking, as if its worse than the gasket like cracks etc guess that will be it lol as no cash for engines etc

ye did mine last summer, engine out i'm afraid and would be a good idea to get the heads tested just for peace of mind, get uprated steel gaskets and also while engine is out might aswell do the clutch save ye having to remove engine in the near future again.
