VF35 is good for a solid 350bhp with 550cc injectors. As has been said, a lot less laggy than the 20G but i've got a 20G now which replaced a VF35 and where the VF35 runs out of puff the 20G keeps going.

Just depends what you want although on a 2.5L a 20G won't be anywhere near as laggy as on my 2.0L and the VF35 will spool super quick and early but will run out of puff not long after 6000rpm.

A lot of 2.5 WRX owners love the 35 on their cars.
My own made 352bhp.

Would a FMIC not be required to be on the safe side for this level of power on a type r?

The 35 will spool super quick on the 2.5, but will run out of puff early. Would make for a nice daily driver though, torque everywhere. I'd probably suggest running something larger. A 20G would run very nicely on a 2.5. some supporting mods would be advisable though e.g. a better inter cooler. Suggest you have a word with your mapper.

i have a 2.5 in version 3 type ra. i have gone from a vf23 to 20g, with fmic, 650cc injectors, RCM K &N Fileter, v6 dccd gearbox being remapped on a simtek. if the 20g is mapped and set-up right you shouldnt notice too much lag, due to the amount of kick you would get from 20g.

You can always go for an 18g.

18g is capable of around 370+ on V-Power on a good day. 550s should be okay too. (650s+ only really needed at around 380-400 at a guess.)

440s pretty much maxed at the 350bhp mark - if 'lucky'. If you go for the VF35, then prob no need to change inj., as that turbo is a '350' one.

If going for the 18g, then I'd defo get some 550s, so as to be able to 'guarantee' to get the extra bhp its capable of.

440s are pretty much done at 340-350bhp (with raised fuel pressure).

20g on a 2.5 is meant to be sweet

A decent intercooler would be recommended. STi8 TMIC would work a treat too.
