Hey guys, I think my o2 sensor on my Impreza (non-turbo) is on the way out and I've been looking to replace it. Where would you recommend getting one from and what would be a good price? I came across this Denso one on eBay:

The reason I think the o2 sensor is shot is because my check engine light came on a month ago and since then my fuel consumption has been very shoddy. I took the car to Subaru for a diagnostics check, and they said it was an o2 sensor fault "due to sports manifold being fitted".

I fitted the (unequal stainless steel) manifold to the car a couple of months before the check engine light came on so this puzzled me a bit. I also know of dozens of other Impreza "sport" drivers who have installed this same manifold and had no problems like this at all.

So do you think it could just be the o2 sensor dying?

Before condemning it, do a search for how to test a Lambda's output voltage...

 

Ok, what's this then mate? Sorry I'm not too good with the technical stuff.

 

You stick a multi-meter +ve probe up the signal wire's pin-out on its connector (push in an unravelled paper clip and touch the probe against that)... while the -ve probe is in contact with a good ground e.g. the inlet manifold.

With the engine up to temp and idling steadily, the display should show a constantly cycling voltage, between 0V and 0.9V.
