Default Want to acheive 400BHP

I have a 2004 blobeye with these mods
Decat up pipe and downpipe, Blitz Nur spec R, VF35 Turbo, STI TMIC, Walbro fuel Pump, Green Flat Panel Filter, Pink Injectors.
It is producing 331BHP And i think the printout says 330 Torque.
How do i get the next 70BHP, do i go front mount, will i need some sort of upgrade on the rods etc???
Any advice would be good

new turbo, injectors and a remap. your intercooler should get you that but a bigger top mount or a good front mount might allow it. the type of turbo depends what u want in the end or what u want now.bigger turbos will give more lag but a bigger push on boost, depends what u want

That next 70 is probably the most expensive, you may aswell go for 450 as it will cost you the same either way.

2.5 bottom end
bigger turbo
injectors
front mount
6 speed gearbox ( 5 speed will only last a matter of months with true 400bhp /400lb/ft)

Seeing as the VF35 and STi IC are listed as mods, almost certainly not.

400bhp on an sti is reasonably easy.

If a 2.5 could manage 450 bhp out of the box, then Subaru would be selling them...

IMHO

If you think figures with a WRX you will be disappointed, either because you achieve 400 with a big turbo and the car is laggy and poor to drive or you fall well short of target bhp but retain driveability.
I have a 03 WRX wagon and have done just about everything I can including a 2.5 forged short engine and MD321H turbo and I cannot get more than 360bhp. Thats not the end of the story of course because I have 396lbs torque, 13.1sec quarter mile and a very driveable, quick spooling road car.
My view is the WRX heads will always give a poor return on £'s/bhp but if you are commited to the 400 path then the heads require serious attention

I'm wondering if the MD321T would not be a better turbo to go with your 2.5 mate? I'm sure the Sti heads are better, but there are loads of 2.5 conversions that have made 400+ comfortably with the std non-sti heads. Maybe have a word with David at APi for advice?

have already read this and am glad to see you got a very good service and car drives great, trouble is that this would have most likely cost you 3k ? i cant afford that so will keep top mount and just go for turbo, injectors, remap again.

Thanks, but it was David's advice to go for either a RCM 420 or MD321H and as the latter came up used and was producing 405bhp/375lbs on an STI8 the choice was made. I was hoping for the high 300's
Lateral do recommend the T for the 2.5 but I do feel the bhp return on more investment would be poor.
I'm not aware of any version 8 WRX's with 2.5 conversion and OE heads running 400+ let alone loads, if there are please step forward matey's.

MD321t on a 2 ltr STI will be fine as I ran a gt3076 on a 2ltr and it was great The md321t will be fine on standard engin as I pressue it will max out around 440bhp??? I reckon full boost around 3600rpm so not too laggy with an 8krpm limit???

Well I know my car and a change in turbo wouldn't see 400.
The plain fact is, on my car the MD321H is only up 24bhp and 18lbsft on the VF34 I was running and that was since fitting a CAIK. Previously on the same set-up the turbo's ran about the same, the VF probably near its limit. The point is the MD has the ability to run more power but now the set-up is the limiting factor.

Thats as good as an STI. My advice sourced from one of the best, is anything above 375 would be a bonus.

Whats it like to drive mate? Laggy at all?

I'm going to build a forged 2.0 in the new year, was stuck on which turbo to go for, this could be the one .

I wanted 450hp ish with as little lag as possible .

Also what gearbox are you running?
