Default Boost Solenoid Plumbing-Bleed or Block?

Hi Guys,
Just wondering,
my scoobs got an aftermarket solenoid which is plumbed in beetween the boost source and the actuator, controling and blocking off the boost source.
Whereas ny girls scoob has the boost source plumbed to the actuator with a T peice off it going to the solenoid then to inlet pipe, bleeding off the boost source to atmosphere. Both accomplishing the same thing, effectively controlling how much of the boost source pressure gets to the acuator.
which set up is the best and why?
