Intercooler Y-pipe STI on to UK straight swap?
Is this a straight forward swap on a ver3/4 MY97-98? I assume that a STI one is similar to the prodrive item contruction or is the fit of the intercooler different?
Second question is a STI ver 3/4 intercooler to a UK turbo a staight swap?
Thanks James

yep the sti one fits right on no probs. sti ver 3/4 intoercooler isnt much better than the standard v3/4 one. but the newage wrx is better than both and an easy fit, the newage sti is even better but a bit more hassle to fit.
I use a newage wrx intercooler from a uk300 on mine with sti Y pipe and a samco elbow and its good.

The STi part is a straight swap, but NOT like the prodrive part at all, the STi part uses a longer ally part to replace one of the short standard parts with two silicon sections (one very short) the Prodrive part is a direct replacement for the exploding plastic flow killer.
The V4 intercooler has better cooling capability than the V3, but the STi part is not significantly (barely at all) better than the non STi part at each phase, it just looks 'nicer'!

Thank Rich & Simon, for both very informative replies
From what I have read the best first mod looks to be to stick with my existing intercooler and get a STI Y pipe to use with it binning off the horrible plastic pipe used at the moment?
