What is a red top?
Hey there, scoobynet's newest newbie here.
I'm considering buying an 03 sti UK from somebody. Thing is it has the red badge on the grill, same as my brother's. Thought this meant it was an import?
Is this the case, is this guy trying to pull the wool over my eyes?

Welcome. The black/blue/pink badge thing is almost meaningless nowadays given that you can buy copies (convincing or otherwise) from the usual places for a handful of quids.
If you want to be sure what model (and model year) the car is, ask the seller to quote you the Applied Model code, which is on the ID plate on the nearside suspension turret.

JDM's will be better equipped over a UK car of that age, plus it will have a rear wiper and quick rack steering, the UK car wont have either, or the auto intercooler water spray.
Anyway, welcome and a red top describes the inlet manifold as they are painted in a red heat resistant paint on STI's, but still do alot of checks on the car (chassis number/model code)
