Smoking from turbo/zaust...advice
Hi,
Id like to run something past you lot. Bit of a preventative question really.
ok. After i full boost through a few gears, and then say stop at traffic lights, smoke comes from the turbo. by this i mean i can see a whisper of smoke eminating from the turbo area in the engine.
also
If i boost the car hard, and then stop after only a short ish cool down. perhaps 1mile. When i start the car again i get a puff of blue smoke out of the exhaust. If i cool the car down full i get no puff of smoke. There is also no smoke when on full boost. I also seem to be consuming oil, i thought this was crank oil leak but thats been changed. However oil consumption doesnt seem to b the same week after week.
Now what does this sound like to you guys? Turbo seals gone/going?
Now here is the other bits its more likley to be. Ive been running a 3" bellmouth decat for the past few months.
Ive changed my brakes several times so could be some spillage onto the trubo of brake fluid,
ive also put a new turbo wrap on so could be that burning in still.
Now. if it is the turbo seals. How hard a job is it DIY? Or should i take the opportunity to get a better turbo. Cheap VF34 or perhaps go the whole hog and go for 380/400 ish suited turbo?
Advice welcome
