Default Injectors ??

Hi Guys - any advice on the following please - I'm planning on a map shortly and trying to source parts beforehand, I've been advised to get Sti injectors for my Bug what size would these be i.e. on the 550 or 650 injector scale and when can they be fitted, during or before any remap

I can't remember the size off an STI, think there 565cc. What ever they are they need to be fitted before a remap unless where your taking it can fit them for you. Just take it easy with the new injectors fitted until mapped.

Thanks - yeah that was my main worry, if they could be fitted before the remap

Your ECU likely has a setting (Injector Flow Scaling - mine has this) which will be set to the cc for your current injectors. If you go larger without remapping then when your car goes into Open Loop fueling you maybe risking AFRs of less than 10:1, i.e. bore wash. Your car won't be adjusting the IDC for the larger injectors.

As axel said above, The car will be terrible to drive and you will get borewash, best to fit them on the mapping day

If you're going to fit 550's from your existing 420/440's then it should be ok to drive to your mapping session.

Come on Simon buy my FP Green turbo, PE 650cc flow matched injectors, AP hard turbo inlet pipe and whatever else I want to flog you.

You would have one of the fastest NB-R's in the world.

I've just got the injectors, what turbo are you planning to go for? I can't decide between a TD05 18g or a VF34 or maybe the FP Green.

I've not really looked at turbo's yet, I'm yet to confirm if mine has the original TD04L as can't get the heat shield off - but I am seeking advice from Bob Rawle, who will "hopefully" map the car for me. The FP Green does look good though, I don't want too much lag and not too interested in high end speed - more acceleration and real road drivability.

Simon as it it based on a modified TD06 turbocharger you should suffer a little lag but Bob should be able to compensate for that in the mapping, now I know somebody who has one for sale, brand new with an AP hard pipe to suit...
