ECU question
Please forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject. 95 sti after a few mods was re mapped by graham neil who used to work for prodrive, i am no longer in contact with him so cant ask him this question.
I have loaded a pic that in the highlighted areas shows a small connector that was disconnected. Also one of the chips in the highlighted area was changed for a prodrive chip that he had from his days workin at prodrive.
A few of these chips were tested untill he found the correct one.
He also mentioned that if i was to connect the small connecter that is shown in the pic as disconnected the ECU would be back to its original map.
Does this mean i now have a mapable ECU, or do i still need a complete daughter board in order to make alterations to the ECU if i wanted to fit a front mount for example. ????
cheers

Not mappable as far as i know.
Reconnect the J1 resistor and it will return to standard map (not sure why it just will)
The early cars seem to be quite robust when modding so you could add a FMIC without remapping it but ,imo, to get the best out of it then a remappable solution would be better.

if its an sti ecu be very carefull about using the map on the main board (by conecting the j1 resistor or connector as you call it). my undertsanding is that some of the the early stis were chipped off the production line and therefore the map on the main board will not be suitable for the car. your original map from the factory will have been on the chip which was removed when the new chip was fitted.
none of the early ecus themselves are mapable. you can get a mapable chip for that type of ecu but that chip does not look like one of them.
