Default Classic cat help

Hey gang, I've got a 93 WRX import and the exhaust has gone on the first cat.
I've been trawling around on e-bay looking for a replacement, but could do with some advice before I go spending any money.
I'm pretty sure the U.K. and imports cats are different.
Would a cat from any import motor fit mine (like an STI) or do I specifically need a WRX one?.
I've also read somewhere that a cat from an import turbo Forrester is the same, is that correct?.
My other option is to go for a de-cat fr pipe, but that still leaves me with having to sort a replacement cat for the mot later.
Would appreciate any help on this one.

All GC8 OE front pipes will fit, UK,WRX,STi are all the same.
The only difference was the early Version 1 & 2 had no whole for the lambda sensor whereas the Version 3 > 6 did, in this case you could buy and fit a lambda bung (about £10.00).

You only have 1 cat (downpipe) and you don't need one to pass the emissions test as pre July or Sept (can't remember which) has an easier emissions test.

Thanks for the info. I've ordered one today (plus the 2 gaskets...50 quids worth).
Hopefully I'll be sorted in a few days.

Hmmm, interesting. I may go down that route later then (when funds are more readily available).

Sorry forgot to say the year DOH it's pre July/Sept 1995. Decat pipe is about £150ish depending on who makes it.
