Mr Clutch?
Hi all
Wanted to book the car in for a clutch change this week. The local Mr Clutch is quite a large venue with helpful staff. Saving me around £130 as opposed to power engineering and torque of the devil.
Just figured it wouldn't be a problem as fitting clutches is their speciality! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Bad idea.
Cheap and not always cheerful.
Some years back I took a Renault 19 16v in for a clutch at Peterborough. When I called for a pickup time they kept stalling. Near end of day I got a lift there to find they still hadn't finished. Somewhat concerned I went into the workshop (that's a joke) to find them levering about under the bonnet with steel bars. On that vehicle it is necessary to remove one or more engine mounts and move the engine to get access. There was evidence that they had damaged some of the metal hydraulic pipes on the bulkhead and they couldn't get the clutch cable re-fitted. Having glanced through the Haynes manual myself I asked if they had tied some cord around the clutch cable when removing it to make re-routing it easier, and commented that it was recommended in the manual. The response from one of the two retards masquerading as 'clutch experts' was that he had never read a manual in his life, his manner implying that someone of his knowledge and experience should probably retire if it ever became necessary to look in one.
I told them to stop what they were doing and called the AA to tow the car to Wests Renault in Cambridge. They patched up the damage but the clutch which Mr Clutch had managed to get in before I called time started juddering like crazy shortly afterwards. This time I took it to Wests for the replacement (I initially thought it might be the engine mounts as it was so soon afterwards). Turns out the clutch was some crap reconditioned effort. I did get some compensation from Mr Clutch later and I would most definitely never use them again.
