Default powertek boost controllers?

has anyone fitted a powertek boost controller or similar item? seen them on ebay going for around £15 to £25. just wondered if they made any difference to power and if there worthwhile getting?

here we go i run a bleed valve on mine just nip the boost up a little and it works very well indeed, there are a few peeps on here that also run a dewas device which is simalar to the item you are quoting but basicaly the same as a bleed valve one purges air and the other works against a spring. used in the right way it will be ok but to much and the engine will run lean as you are raising the boost but it all depends how greedy you are with the screw

i put a bleed valve on my classic, three months later the cabin filled with smoke and the engine is currently sat on my yard floor with a knackered piston. if you guys do put one on don't make the mistake i did and keep it a bit lower.

Nobody knows if you can fit a Dawes to your car without risk, no. Firstly because none of us know what sort of boost pressure you intend to set, and secondly because none of us knows whether there's some sort of underlying issue with your engine that might cause a specific problem - for example a dodgy fuel pump, injector, airflow meter or so-on.

The generalised answer is that provided you monitor the engine's health carefully (most particularly for signs of knock), then you should be able to get a useful safe performance increase via a Dawes. Again though it's a question of degree, and keeping an eye on what's going on.

it hasnt been modded much iin 7 years, just a full decat, dump valve and induction kit. was a bit weiry about messing with the boost but fit a gauge in case i was going to. tbh dont think il mess with it. and £900 for a new ecu and map.. can think of better things to spend the cash on for now
