Default blowing cold air

hi can any1 help, i have a subaru wrx every now and then when i boot the car it starts blowin cold air when idlin, but blows hot when drivin this is drivin me mad now

sound like a circulatory problem in your cooling system, have you topped it up recently could be an air lock or something.

yeah pal i decided to drain the water out it and put new water and coolant in it yesterday but still doing it,

probley still got air in there then, when i did my rad i just left the coolant bottle cap of and held the revs up, and keep topping up, you have to be careful not to overheat as it will happen, took me about half an hour of this, was recommended by a dealer to do it this way, they said it was a pain in the back side.

yeah i done this, from cold kept cap off and kept toppin up till fan kicked in then let it cool back down for good while then done same again, was fine went out for drive after a wee bit of stick it started blownin cold on idle again

yeah guage is fine sits half way then fan kicks in, when its happened before the gauge kept going even when fabn kicked in

still sounds like an air lock to me, was the level low before you started?

na was ok pal, i will take cap off again and let it idle till fan kicks in again see if more air comes out
