Default Clicking noise

Hello and Help!!!!!

Just behind the air box on my95 wrx are a couple of adaptors (Compressor outlet and Wastgate I'm told???) Anyway, from that area is a fast clicking noise? Is this normal or something I need to rectify?

Cheers, ADB

Yes, normal.

The 'adaptors' you've been told about are the compressor's vac line inlet, and wastegate outlet, ports on the boost control solenoid - as you say, behind the airbox and bolted to the wing. It's the brass cylindrical thing with these 2 ports on the side and the 3rd bleed port/vac line on the bottom.

The rapid clicking is the noise of the solenoid doing it's opening/closing thing to control boost duty... But it should only be clicking when on boost whilst you're driving!!

Are you saying it's doing it whilst it's idling with you standing over it with bonnet open, or something?!!

Just given it the quick test, ok static and clicks when revved.
However, I've just noticed a similar noise coming from the wastegate actuator (I think thats what its called, just in front of I/C tower-turbo?) and a very faint smell of exhaust fumes????

Any ideas

Thank you so far

Hmmn. I wonder if you have a leaking up-pipe to turbo gasket. Leaking exhaust gases can make a 'ticking' noise as they escape through a tiny opening...
