my scooby is over boosting,it is hitting 1.3 bar and the fuel cut out is activating.
tried to adjust the actuator down but it is already wownd right out
it is a 94 wrx ,i understand it can run up to 1 bar before the fuel cut off but how can i lower it?
could it be a faulty solinoid or am i barking up the wrong tree
help!

Try fitting a hose from the wastegate actuator direct to the turbo housing pressure takeoff (bypassing the boost control solenoid). The boost pressure should run at 0.5bar approx. This checks out the wastegate mechanism and the actuator diaphragm, proving the problem is electronic/solenoid control.
If the boost cut is still occuring then you have a mechanical problem with wastegate/actuator.

Definately the ECU/solenoid control then.
Start with the boost control solenoid. Check its got 12v supply and that all hoses are in place and not leaking. If no 12v, check the wiring back to ECU. If 12v supply ok then try changing valve or checking flow through the valve with and without the 12v applied.
If this all appears to be ok you should try changing the MAP sensor and then the pressure exchange solenoid (small brown valve on top of MAP sensor/ignition amplifier bracket).

You can sqirt brake cleaner through the solenoid to clean it - oil could have got in and it is stuck open. If it is open you can blow through it and feel it at the other end. Replacements are about £30 from breakers if it is dodgy. It runs a 12V common supply and low side drive from the ECU (ie 0V = solenoid open) at least on MY99/00.
