Default What does "stroker" actually mean?

Since my Scoob decided it wanted a new bottom end, I've been taking advice on what to do, and keep coming across the above term.

Can anyone explain what it refers to, please?

It means to increase the capacity of the engine by lengthening the piston stroke (i.e. how far up and down it moves). Obviously only small increases of capacity can be made through this alone, hence stroked to 2.1 or 2.2l.

The other alternative is to increase the size of the bore and fit bigger pistons.

The piston effectively travels a longer distance in the cylinders. This increases the displacement without increasing the bore.

Thanks.
Does the mod effect power? Torque? Ability to rev?

It will make the engine less "oversquare" won't it?

Doesnt the 2.0litre EJ20 have a bore of 90mm and a stroke of only 75mm... if thats right then what is the stroke when its "strokered" to 2.1litre? etc

And as above how does this effect rev-ability... as I know engines with a short stroke can rev higher, safer.

ej20 std bore is 92mm x 75mm stroke.
When its stroked to a 2.1 a 79mm stroke ej25 crank is used along with custom pistons and rods.
