Question Help car reving but not pulling

Been out in my 03 STI a couple of times today and noticed that when I was putting my foot down the car stopped pulling but continued to rev. The last time It was in 5th gear I'm not sure about the first time. When I say it revs I mean it goes into high revs really quickly until you take your foot off and you can feel the car stop pulling forward.
Any ideas?????

If it's slipping badly in top gear, then it really is on its last legs!

It's only slipping in 5th and only when I'm putting my foot down. When I change to 6th it's fine again

So would you advise getting the clutch changed before getting the service done?

Oh yeah sorry, you have the 6-sp.

But still, if it's slipping in any of the higher gears - especially when already having momentum! - then it's a sign that it is quite worn. I'd defo get it replaced sooner rather than later, as once they become quite worn, they can get much worse (undrivable) in a very short space of time. You run the possibility of becoming stranded.

yep id go with clutch and probably will slip in 6th if you increase your speed so that your right in the turbo's boost range. i.e floor it at over say 80mph
