You can't start it because the immobiliser coding in the "new" ECU doesn't match the transponder in your key(s) - which is paired with your original one.

Your options from here are fairly limited. If the old ECU is still working, put it back in. If you have transponders or keys that go with the new one, use them. Failing that, you'll probably have to speak with your nearest main dealer and see if they can synchronise the immobiliser for you.

Is ANY ANY ANY chance that the 8S ECU could be remaped without additional board ?? with no marks of soldering and etc. ??
Cheers

no you cannot remap the 97/98 version 3/4 cars, it's aftermarket ecu time.

reason for asking is that the guy who sold me this new 8S is "sure" that been remaped -> i don't want to spend more money (for dealer service key) and find that is the same ecu what i already got - i got some logging to compare this ecus but i need to know is it wort.

Some older ECU's were remapped, for some reason no one does them any more.

I believe I'm correct in thinking that the (now unavailable) remapping method on these ECUs involved a daughterboard soldered onto the main PCB (sure someone will correct me if not).

Thus if you take a picture of it with the lid off and post it up, we should at very least be able to advise you whether it looks standard or not. While being conned by the seller is hardly a good thing, at least if you do discover it's a standard ECU, it saves you all the mucking about trying to make the new one work.

If you can't post pics, just take the top off both the new ECU and the old one and see if they look the same inside. If the new one hasn't got a satellite PCB soldered into it, chances are it's standard.

i done it - both looks exactly the same ( with no additional board) even the connecting solder points doesn't looks like something could be connected to them for remap time - i saw few "machines" for reprograming ecus and they should leave "dots" from connecting spikes...
I belief that is no other way to check this ECU ... it's the shame that i can not proof that is not mapped and seller can not proof that is.

No additional board no remap.. There are pics on ebay of 8S ECUs with the daughterboard if you search through the sold items.

There is no transponder in the ecu, the immobiliser is completely independant, but the ecu needs to be enabled from the transponder, so its [ossible that the ecu is the "wrong" one for your car type. Is it an ecu from a JDM spec car?
Thhe only way to "remap" this ecu is to solder in an additional board, if its not there its not been "remapped".
