Default Anyone use a Gendan ECU interface?

Anyone use the Gendan interface box (USB ODB Box) to use with their newage scooby? I can get the Gendan software to work but having trouble connecting to 'Evoscan'

Is this interface you've got one of Gendan's ELM327-based products?

If so, the ELM- interfaces are hardware coded to run in OBD2 mode and will only work with ELM-friendly generic OBD2 software (and utilise the ECU's OBD2 mode).

These interfaces will not work in the proprietary Subaru Select Monitor mode, which is the protocol used by DeltaDash, ECU Explorer, and, I suspect (although I've never used it) EvoScan too. Probably the explanation why this software won't work.

To communicate with the car via the SSM method, you need a straight ISO9141 to PC interface that doesn't have any onboard processing.

Thanks for that Splitpin. Looks like I wasted my money on evoscan then

I think I will update to the Pro version of Gendan and give that a go....

Double-edged sword Mike. You will get much more information, much faster, out of an interface and software running in SSM mode than you will from OBD2.

Rather than pay for more ELM software, you might be better off sticking with Evoscan and finding an interface that will work with it.
