New sports cat fitted - advice needed
I have had a Prodrive sports downpipe fitted to my 04 STI. I couldn’t believe what a difference such a small mod makes! The turbo spools up a lot quicker and a little more boost pressure is being obtained.
The boost levels are (psi): -
Gear 1 – 0.9 – 1.0
Gear 2 - 1.0
Gear 3 – 1.1 – 1.2
Gear 4, 5 and 6 - 1.2
Before I was lucky to reach 1.0 in any gear.
Can someone confirm that these are correct/safe levels of boost please? Only other mod is a H&S backbox.
Also, occasionally in 5th or 6th when hitting full boost (1.2) it would sometimes slightly drop down to 1.1, as though it has lost a slight amount in pressure, is that something to be concerned about? I don’t get any engine light errors, and the engine seems to be running great.
Thanks!

Thats would be nice mate, but a grand for a remap is something I cant quite afford at the mo.
The question still stands that the levels are in a safe limit?
If I connected my laptop to the car, what could I measure to be sure no problems are being caused?

You probably don't need a remap. Whether you want one and maybe 1.3/1.4 bar is up to you.
PS: I've seen newage remaps for around £400 at times.

Hi mine threw a CEL first time I cruised down the motorway, due to cat efficiency being out of range..... as you'd expect. It is good that your car isn't over boosting, however you are way short of the power it should now make as the map will be wrong. Save up and try to find an OS mapper for half the price of an Ecutek map, mine manages 340 bhp.
Good luck !
dunx
P.S. Mine's managed 2 bar twice.... but not again !

Thansk for the advice chaps. I will keep an eye on the boost levels, plus will take regular readings from my laptop software. Anyone know a good OS remapper for newages? Dont really want to spend more than £400.... Perhaps I should ask that in another thread

i believe it means open source.i was enquiring about this the other day as id seen a thread which advertised flash maps as theyre called.at £200ish they are a lot chaeper but i was warned that these would be a generic map rather than a custom map just for your car.custom maps are just specific to your car and thats what you are paying the extra for i believe

OS maps are custom maps not a flash map. I have had mine done a few times by a fellow member on here and its has been great. Mapped on the road with him tweeking it as needed. Even traveled to my house and did it there as I had mods done before the map.

If you get yourself a data cable and ROMRaider you can have a copy my 05 STI pro-drive ROM - Assuming yours is a late 04 and you have a 300G ECU, same as mine... Yours might be a 100H or 200H. Shed load cheaper than remapping
It has slightly lower boost limits than yours though. Alternatively, with cable, you could just lower the boost limits or up the wastegate duty cycle for the affected engine load/rpm ranges.

Now got the engine light on coz of the prodrive sports cat Anyone know of a bypass for the sensor when putting on a decat I cna clear the error with my laptop and Gendan OBDII, but obviously it re-appears soon after.
Error code is P0037 (Heater control circuit Low - Bank 1 Sensor 2)
Thanks aXel, thats a very tempting offer But just how safe is this? Can I back up my current ROM incase something goes wrong? Oh, and my car is 04, the first half of the year, not sure what ECU that is...
Thanks

Mike try Scott (Polar Performance) or Simon (Jolly Green Monster) for remaps down south, also heard good things about Pat Holborn. Check out Sussex or South East Scoobies to contact them

I have bought the hayward and scott CEL fix to remove the code (http://www.haywardandscott.com/subar.../cell-fix.html)
Can anyone here please confirm this will work for error code P0037?
Has anyone used this? I want to be sure before I go slicing it into the ECU wires!

P0420 is usual code when removing stock cat, but easier to disable them in map. I wouldn't bother with the resistor fix.

Thanks for the advice, I was a tad jubious about cutting wires.
Im a bit skint at the mo and didnt want to have to fork out a lot for a new ODM cable that will only be used once.
Perhaps someone would be kind enough to lend me one? Would be most grateful
I will obviously wire over any postage costs....
