Default Apexi FC + Boost Controller

I bought an Apexi FC and Commander from a guy on Scoobynet. When it arrived it came with the Apexi boost controller(same as AVCR) too
Only problem now is I don't have the Apexi MAF sensor. I am taking the car to Andy Forrest in 2 weeks so though I might as well get the kit fitted but without the MAF sensor it won't work will it??
The car will have by the time it gets to Andy:
sports cat downpipe and decat mid section
Green Group N panel filter and resonater delete(did that today)
Walbro 255 FP
Sytec FPR with gauge
Is it worth trying to sort out getting the boost controller up and running(and how do I do that) or with these mods, will it not matter??

I presume the same, no need for it to have a AirFlow sensor but Pressure would be useful in controlling, well, pressure!

No it won't work without the MAP sensor.

Sorry guys, typo. I was rushing around trying to find answers. I really meant would just any MAP sensor do, or Apexi only??

do you have an AVCR or do you have an AVCR 3port boost solenoid which wires into powerfc?

post a picture of what you have.. might be easier

Hope these help shed some light.

I have been informed that the standard solinoid and the power fc will enable me to have 3 boost maps anyway without fitting this kit. Hopefully that is correct

What year is the car?

Judging by the plug that has been fitted to the Apexi 3-port boost solenoid it's either '93~'96 or '97~'98. This will alter which you need.

your standard map sensor will read to 1.55bar.. you can have 4 settings on the powerfc.

The standard 2port boost solenoid (you do get the ocassional sti with a 3port already so check, whether fitted in Japland or here etc) can sometimes hamper boost control and that apexi 3port you have there will be better.

First of all JGM. I appreciate the input. I am dead keen to learn and you are good for helping me along!!
So it is worth fitting the Apexi boost controller with my standard MAP sensor. That is what you said eh?? I'll see about fitting this! Only scary thing is I do not know what it is currently set at so will have to drive off boost until it is mapped.
Please feel free to shoot me down if I am wrong!!

I wouldn't fit the Apexi PowerFc, let the mapper do that, it might be mapped for larger injectors and you could run it therefore lean on your car etc etc.. unless you have been instructed otherwise by your mapper. Drive to him on the original ecu and let him fit the apexi.

Yes I would fit the 3port boost solenoid and drive off boost once fitted

Wouldn't it just be easier/safer for Andy to fit everything - including the 3-port BCS - on the day?

Yeah, fair point.

After all, it would take a fair bit longer to do, compared to just swapping over the PFC.

Here you go SbS, see post #39 of this thread for how to hook up the BCS's ports to which vac lines, etc:-

https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...ntroler-2.html

Ealier posts in the thread also tells you about the electrical plugs, etc, etc...
