Exhaust gas smell
Guys, ever since my mate fitted my decat up pipe to my05 i can smell exhaut gas in the car (or i think thats what it is) when its stood still with engine running.
Srange thing is there is no rattling or loss of power so that rules out a loose connection.
I just can't work it out.

I reckon there's a tiny leak leak between either:-
- Header/s & head/s
- Headers/crosspipe/elbows
- Turbo & downpipe
...But 'bound' to involve the up-pipe seeing as that is what you changed (and assuming you detected NO fumes BEFORE you changed it).
So between:-
- Headers' collector flange & up-pipe
- Up-pipe & turbo

Has it been mapped..?
If not it'll be running VERY rich, hence the smell..
TBH, after decatting what did you expect..? With the engine cold and idling/stationary you will get fumes, it's even worse in the winter on damp days..!
Once warmed up properly, if mapped correctly, it shouldn't be that noticeable..

It can be hard to detect/hear small exhaust leaks... so putting a bit of tissue paper over suspected joints will cause it to flutter if there IS a leak.
Without wanting to state the obvious: also simply your hands!... They are quite sensitive to moving air (don't burn yourself though!...)
