Default Ecu problems. Please help!!

Ecu problem
Hi everyone. I need some help my ecu packed up on me 98 impreza so I then brought a new one, which is the same as the original. But then the immobiliser fault code comes up and it starts for a couple of seconds then dies. Is there anything that I can do to fix this problem myself. Please help as I've had enough of trying to sort it out. Cheers Charlie.

not sure but don't you need a matching key as the transponder is in the key?
Perhaps it may be worth enquiring at a local dealers (although i'm sure it won't be cheap)

You need to get the car to a dealer to have your key programmed to the ecu, failing that you need the key that belongs to the ecu, which you can then place next to your ign switch to get the car started.

I have had this work done before by a dealer. It is a simple job for them with the official Subaru bit of kit. They recode the ECU for the keys you have so if you have a spare bring that along too. Think it costs around £40..

I just had this done and it was £43 for the keys to be done..... Alternatively I think an ECUTek chappy can do the keys for you (not sure if your ECU has to be ecutek'd)
