What downpipe?? open, blankside or twin pipe??
Hi guys - Im gona get a new downpipe (de cat) and wondring on the differences between the connections to the turbo end??
Ive read that you must separate the exhaust and wastegate gasses for a distance like in a twin pipe version but what about the completely open mouthed ones?? I assume the blank sided ones wont hurt as thats what there as standard(but catted on the pipe).
Does anyone know the diferences in gains and any possible problems associated with these different pipes??
Ive got a staright center pipe and automax backbox already 2.5" so any thoughts on what to go for??
Thanx in adavance!!

open mouth are regarded as best, the twin pipe are believed to cause boost issues, due to the fact when the waste gate valve opens, the waste gate can block the hole in the downpipe, so the gases have now where to go.

Yeah, just be done with it and get a fully open "bellmouth" design, for the reasons my94wrx has sited.
Also, although a 3" isn't really required until you're into, I think, the 400-500bhp territory, it could make sense to get a true 3" one and 3" system i.e. one that doesn't narrow to 2.5" at the centre section flange. That way, you've taken one step in 'ticking off' a mod on the list should the modding bug bite hard and you go for big bhp later...
