Question MY06 JDM STI Fuel Pump question

One for the JDM experts .....

I’m sure I’ve seen something saying the JDM STI’s have uprated fuel pumps compared to UK versions.
Any idea how capable they are? Are they as good as say a Walbro255?
I will be fitting a full 3” Milltek this week to my JDM STI Hawkeye MY06 and getting it remapped very soon. Would expect around 340~350 bhp, any evidence that these pumps are ok and entirely safe up to this?

Thanks, Carl.

In theroy the pump should be perfect and as not that old.
However the walbro pump is so cheap and easy to change it makes sense just to change it

Unless your upgrading your turbo then there isnt any real point in upgrading it, its 80 quid for a walbro one which is a night out, and I would take the night out over something that I dont need

If it were a uk then agree Tony but the twin scroll on the jdm is a punch number and it is a braces mod.

Thanks for the answers.

JGM, I agree that the Walbro is relatively cheap. What would be the actual reason for changing to one from a JDM standard pump? – Does the Walbro have an increased flow rate over the jdm or is it because its newer and potentially more reliable???

You also have the option of a bosch uprated pump, though I still dont agree you need to upgrade these on JDM cars if you dont change the turbo, they are more than capable and considering the later cars push 320bhp-330bhp out of the box when run in, thats only 30-40bhp available to hit the max on the turbo on standard fuel and you aint going to put a pump in there thats running towards its max to start with (well they did with the early UK STI's but those were not JDM cars )

Thanks for the advice again lads.
For the sake of £70 I’ve gone with the safe option of the Walbro. Thanks again, Carl.
