I take it you have replaced the solonoid valves - you might want to check the filter screens inside the banjo bolts each end of the metal oil supply pipe going to the AVCS housings.
They quite often block up ( as the filters are doing their job ) and reduce the oil flow to the AVCS housings and Inlet Pulleys or fall out of the banjo bolts and block the oil supply port. If they are fitted, then discard them to prevent further problems.

You will probably have trouble getting to the banjo bolt at the front of the Left Hand cylinder head as its tight against the inner timing cover/dipstick tube.

Yeah I have replaced them both

Would a choked filter give an open circuit fault?

Restricted oil flow to the solonoids would normally result in a poor idle.
Open circuit would indicate a loose/corroded connector - i would start with the big engine harness connectors down by the battery, disconnect and check the pins/ spray with WD40 or similar.
If you find nothing obvious, then check the connections onto the ECU itself.

Its not something daft like the cam pulley cover pushing against the cam pulley and sticking this in an open position. I know this happened to mine when area 52 fitted the fmic kits and the jubilee for a fmic kit pipe was pressing against the cam cover stopping it from moving.

Are you able to log cam positions - are the two cams running at the same advance?
