changed ecu now car wont fire up! :(
Hey,
Just changed my00 wrx ecu for a ppp ecu which I thought was a plug and play replacement but the car wont fire up, Its turning over but just wont start. The engine managment light is also flashing. I disconnected the battery and then installed the new ecu, refittied the battery and staterd her up is this the correct way or have I maybe missed something?? I was told the ecu was definatly for this year of car etc and have seen other posts on it the ecu saying its a worth while modification.
Any help appreciated
Andy

Some confusion inherent in your post which you'll need to clarify before we can help you properly.
This "MY00 WRX" you're talking about. What exactly do you have? Are you talking about a 2000 model year UK specification classic shape (i.e. Impreza Turbo 2000), a 2000 model year japanese market WRX, or a 2001 model year UK bugeye WRX?
If you have an MY00 UK Turbo 2000, a 99-00 PPP ECU should indeed be a plug and play replacement.
If you have an MY00 JDM (classic shape) WRX, a PPP ECU will physically plug in but the car wouldn't be expected to start (due to wiring loom differences), and this ECU would be a bad choice for this car anyway.
If you have an early (i.e. MY01) bugeye, the car wouldn't be expected to start after an ECU swap as you need to have the immobiliser in it synced to your keys.

Ecu Specialist
The reason that it won't start is that the JDM WRX has different ecu wiring in some areas to the European car which is what the PPP is for, in any case, as mentioned, your std ecu is more likely to give you greater performance than a PPP.
