Doesn't the induction kit have a mount to bolt the MAF into?
Putting the MAF before the filter will destroy it - I'm not quite sure how it can even be mounted like this as most induction kits have the filter at the front.
Got a picture of this kit?

What filter do you have? The MAF has to be behind the filter as the airflow is different once through.

Why? Unless you're trying to make a lot of power the standard induction tract will cope fine.

The best way in your case is probably to forget about the idea. The proper way to do it is to replace the airbox/MAF tube with a custom-designed replacement, and then have the car remapped to take account of the altered airflow to sensor voltage scaling.

Lol, no. The big question under those circumstances would be whether you next post would be about a blown airflow sensor or a blown engine.

The MAF must be behind the filter, to protect it from crud, and it must be inside its tube in order for the readings it gives the ECU to be accurate.

As long as you buy an induction kit which is Impreza specific then it should come with everything needed to bolt straight onto your MAF.

I mean this in a nice way but don`t go and start cutting pipes and bodging it, pay that little bit extra and get a kit that will bolt straight on, there`s plenty about.
