starter motor bolts threaded help please?????

Default starter motor bolts threaded help please?????

hi as above my starter motor bolts have threaded now the bottom is holding just but the top is loose as **** and wont bite atall what do i do has anyone had this problem before
do i use bigger bolts or helacoils or what also where do i get and how much is whatever you suggest cheers in advance

Is it the thread on the bolt you have wrecked?
If so you might get away with running a tap through the mount for the starter and getting a new bolt.

I had this problem too. Longer bolt and a locking nut does the job.
Alot easier than faffing about with a helicoil.

no mate its pulled the thread from the ally block through

The locking nut locks itself by extra friction to the bolt. This is done by either a nylon insert in one end of the nut or by the nut being slightly deformed at one end. You can use a normal nutbut you need to add two washers a plain washer against the block with a locking washer BETWEEN the flat washer and the nut. Have capped the between due to seeing a lot of people putting them the wrong way round.
