hi...

my my96wrx has developed a kind of metallic rattle which appears to be coming from under the engine. looking at the sidc faq it sounds like it could be heat shield rattle. how can i check this? (i.e. where at are all the heat shields that might cause it?). and is there anything else it might be aside from that?

The heat shield that causes the rattle is under the
drivers side at the front of the engine and has a senser
wire going through it.
If I remember it is held in place by 3 or 4 bolts (WD 40 required)
To undo them its a five minute job to weld the heat sheild if you know a welder Hope this helps

Yes its normally that one that goes, this shield doesn`t do a great deal, at least the lower part doesn`t so just take it off and fling it. Waste of time welding it.IMHO

Take the bolt out and whack a large penny washer between the heat shield and bolt, it seems to have held mine for the last 6 months!
