Wheel Bearing
Hi im after some advice
my front driver side wheel bearing has decided to let go and ive got two quotes and im now abit confused.
I spoke to subaru main dealer and they quoted me £315 all in and then i
spoke to a very well respected local garage and they said £100 all in
so i was wondering how much a wheel bearing is and how much should it cost including fitting?
Thanks

£100 all in including the parts? That sounds too good to be true mate!
IIRC my dealer charged somewhere between £130 and £150 to do my front driver's side bearing when it went.

One is expecting the hub to need replacing, about 2/3 rds of them do, as once it is noisy enough to notice the damage is done.
The cheaper quote will go up, or they simply won't bother with a new hub. Then you'll be able to sell it on and the next owner will sort it.
IMHO

If the hub is ok then £100 is about right. Go for that one but accept a new stub shaft may be required.
Subaru dealer expecting the worst. Well respected garage trying to do you a good deal...
and probably won't change parts unneccesarily
Don't get well respected by ripping people off, and there is nothing dificult or unusual about a scoob wheel bearing.

Tbh - not sure if that's having a crack at the dealer or not but I've always found my local Subaru dealership to be very competitive; in fact, they reduced their service price when I threatened to go elsewhere to keep me as a customer.
They always call if anything no matter how small needs doing, and are extremely courteous and professional.
They've also made me aware of matters that might go wrong in the future and tell me if I don't need to deal with them right away.
One or two of the guys there are enthusiasts themselves and aren't looking to rob you blind like too many other major manufacturer dealerships.
The service industry in the UK could learn a thing or two from them in my opinion.
