Took mine out on Saturday

Installed a pipe from behind the lower bumper vent (not directly as I didn't want to draw up any water), up the inside of the wing with a bend in to the air filter box. Drawing in engine bay air can't be ideal
Installing a Green Cotton Air Filter soon.

Question: Will this add any power or at least make the engine work a little easier?

Intake silencer from a MY99 UK Turbo:

 

Also my mates P1 has a sensor on his intake duct that isn't present on 2000 turbos. Can anyone explain?? Must be a temperature thing??
