HELP REQURIED!!!

i have just collected my 2002 wrx from my local subaru garage for the 3rd time in a month. my management light came on which the garage read the code as "running too lean". they have since checked everything: compression tests...lamba sensors...cleared code etc and was still running bad on roadtest. so they took a "snapshot" to which they sent to subaru technical in japan who then advised to change the fuel pump...still no luck!! they have lately tried new spark plugs, tried new dump valve, changed manifold gasket, checked exhaust system with no luck!!

management light has again come on and the car tries to hold back at around 80mph but will go if pushed. just seems to be lacking umph around that point. car is due to go back in next week, so if anybody has any ideas please let me know and il ask if they have checked any recomendations...many thanks!!

check the air filter is a genuine one and fitted/sealed properly. a guy at work had engine management light on due to a duff aftermarket air filter just this weekend. when the car was serviced last weekend they used a cheap after market filter. they have now used a new o.e filter and the light has stayed off.
