standard topmount_ should there be a hole in it?
I have been fitting a fmic, so my topmount has been in and out a few times, and is what I'm using at the moment.
I now get a whistle on full boost from 3.5k on, and have noticed that there is a small moulded hole on the driver side of the ic, towards the back of it.
Should this be there, or have I missed a blanking plate? I can't imagine it should be there, as it would just lose pressure, so presume its something I have forgotten to put back in- all help appreciated

Which of the ten or so distinct different designs of Impreza TMIC are you talking about here? The only holes they tend to have are the air inlets, outlets, and the dumpvalve flanges.
If it is a hole, that opens out into the the IC interior, then likelihood is that you wouldn't be able to attain full boost in the first place, so sounds like whatever you can see isn't a hole, as such. Can you post a pic?

looks like what you can see there is just the cooling fins... does it suck when the engine is running through that hole?
you wouldnt see shapes like that if the hole went into the actual intercooler, think about it all you have is tubes going horizontally where as the cooling fins look like that, going vertically.

I always thought that the TMIC was a 'sealed box' with the fins going through it effectively on the outside, so would have thought this was a hole I have missed.
I have no idea if it 'sucks or blows'

My V1 slanty intercooler, which was removed ages ago, has 2 small holes in the side of it. Look like they are meant to be there.
Excuse the knee in the pic.
