which intercooler would be better? a V7/8 STI or this 1...

version 8 sti intercooler will not fit on a version 1 there is not enuf space thiink they do squeze into the v4's. your best off going for a version 6 sti in my opinion will still be a tight fit, but is doable

Doesn't your car have the 90 degree inlet Td05??
Then this (or any other TMIC) would be a bit of a bugger to fit.

it does but it is doable :-) will be fun. i dont run a dump valve atm so i wont have to plumb that in

aparently the sti 8 will fit mabe i was wrong the later version classics seem to have space

No chance on fitting the sti8 to a V1 classic, I've just sold one i thought i could get to fit to mine.
Also, i saw that tmic on ebay, it was listed wrongly, it's a newage one, which again won't fit.
I've fitted the Sti 5/6 tmic without ant trouble, see this:
