Question vf35 question

will the oil line, water line, gaskets and feed etc from my 2006 wrx tdo4 turbo come off and fit straight onto the vf35 turbo iv bought? as i dont want to spend 50 pounds and wait on new oil water line kit coming from japan.

You'll probably have to modify them a little but they will fit. You should find that the water supply and return banjos are fixed together with little strip of metal. This will have to be broken off to separate the two lines before you can refit them to the new turbo.

As the VF35 is a ball bearing design you'll also need to reduce the oil supply volume. This is done by changing one of the banjo bolts for one with a smaller orifice - think it's the cylinder head end but sure one of the others will confirm.

the vf35 is a divided thrust bearing, not ball/roller bearing!vf34 is the roller bearing turbo.i dont think u have to reduce the oil supply, but dont quote me on that.u could well be right.

I just did a straight swap on my Classic - TD04 to VF35 - and all pipes fitted direct. Been running fine for nearly a year - I have not heard about having to reduce the oil flow.

You do not have to change the banjo bolt going from TD > VF.

You do however have to get the correct banjo bolt for swapping the VF series turbo for a mitsi (TD) one. If you don't they will be starved of oil and not last too long!

You've got me thinking here. On my MY98 Classic, I went from a TD04 to a VF35 and all the pipes matched OK. I'm just upgrading the VF35 to an HS380 (TD05 body) and had to get M14 banjo pipes/fittings for the water pipes. However, the oil feed is still the same size as the two earlier turbos.

Do I need to do anything extra with the oil feed ?

Thanks,
Keith.

If you didn't change the oil banjo bolts when putting the VF35 on then you should be fine as it will still have the TD one in.
