Question JDM Sti spun bearing - part numbers wanted

I have JDM STi V4 converted to LHD:

Recently, it developed knock and after opening I found spun rod bearing on 3rd cyl - both the crankshaft and rod are damaged:

I am going to buy new:
1. ACL Race bearings

2. OEM Crank - 12200AA150
3. OEM Connecting Rod - 12100AA080
4. OEM Sti reinforced gasket set - 10105AA230

Can someone confirm that these part numbers are correct? Especially the gasket set?

E-GC8
VIN GC8-066923
Applied model GC8E4ED
Option CODE EGC
TRIM CODE 830
Engine type EJ20KDW7PR
COLOR CODE 230
Transmission type TY752VBCAA

Engine Number - 201610

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Yup, The Japanese parts program agrees that the part numbers you have are for the supplied vin no:

The part number for the con rod (12100AA080) now superceedes to 12100AA240

Good Luck With The Rebuild

One more question:

Should I use the rebuild to upgrade the oil pump to Cosworth uprated one?

You may stay with standard pump but if you plan bigger modifications in the future it might be also good idea to put uprated one - not necessarily Cosworth's one - there's a couple of tuners selling their modified pumps.

While reading about oil pumps another question popped out?

Is V4 STi oil pump 11mm or 12mm? According to what I read JDM pumps were 12mm, while the Cosworth pump commonly found on the market are 11mm. That makes me think that replacing OEM one might be a downgrade.

if you could afford upgrading the motor to a GDB it would be a better option. try to get a low mileage GDB sti JDM motors. Since i am an importer from japan i was able to source a very low mileage gDB sti motor around 2tkm to be exact

My point of view is actually opposite - I'd prefer to do a rebuild, using personally chosen parts regarding your needs. Good opportunity to prepare engine for higher figures.
And first of all you'll know what you have in your engine, it will be almost like new.

Of course getting another engine, especially low milage one, is also an option - but you can never be sure how the engine was treated before and what sort of surprises are waiting for you inside

At the end of the day I believe it's - as usual - the matter of money and availability...

I prefer rebuilding the one I have.

Reasons:
1. It is low mileage JDM engine - 40K miles on the clock.
2. When I disassembled it - everything inside was like new. Except, of course, the failed bearing. Fortunately, the bearing did not fall apart filling the engine with debris. It was simply smashed as seen in the photo.
3. Most JDM engines come from crashed cars. There is high probability that the engine surged during the accident. Furthermore, I am sure the kinetic energy from the impact has temporarily misplaced some of the internals.

So, I already ordered the parts - brand new OEM crank, rod, timing belt and gasket set + ACL Race bearings.
