only 0.5 bar boost help
Right my bugeye sti normal runs 1.5bar of boost but 1 of the vacuum pipes blew off and that got fixed and it happend 2 more times and again it got reatached but then it went again i dont know where it is they just told me that it was near the alternater, so they took my turbo off and done a turbo test to make sure it was working ok which it was and they put everything back and now it still doesn't boost as it only goes up 2 0.5 bar. has anyone had this problem before? i was told that maybe my dump valve is the problem but they won't to sure (the bov is a super sonic dump valve). all help will be greta on this thanks.

I had the same problem on a WRX & STI bug eye, in both cases it was caused by the small plastic joining pipe about 15 mm long that joins the pipe that goes from the boost solenoid to the t piece which connect to either side of the turbo and contains the restrictor bead, which you may also want to check is still there cos this can alis cause a problem with low boost if it's popped out and is lost (btw; replacement restrictor beads are available from Subaru for a modest fee)

0.5bar is the actuator spring pressure.
You either have restrictor pill missing or the boost solenoid is broke.
The pipe from the turbo goes to a T piece, in the pipe between the turbo and T piece you should be able to feel the restrictor pill.
Off the T one line goes to the actuator the other to the boost solenoid.
If all that is present and correct it points to the boost solenoid.
Connect the 2 green test connectors under the dash and turn on the ignition you should here the solenoid clicking. I would take the inlet pipe off and try blowing down it, if it stops you blowing when its clicking I would say its ok.
I know this cause my car had the retrictor missing and the boost solenoid was sticking!!!
I replaced the lot with a 3 port boost solenoid and had it mapped to suit, never had a problem since.

The T is right down next to the turbo, left hand side on the intercooler as you look at it.
Boost solenoid is on the drivers side suspension turret, has a metal shield round it with 2 pipes going into it.
3 Port cost about £70 for turbo smart but you will require more piping and a remap after fitting it
