Servicing Query
I'm not sure when to get my car serviced next really.......
My car was registered June 2003. So in theory is bang on for the 72 month service!
But, I only got the last service done last November at 47,000 miles.
I am now on 51 or 52,000 miles.
I am going to change the oil myself next month, as I plan to do the oil every 6 months out of principle.
As the due service is fluids and filters, can I leave it until the end of the year (safely)? Sounds stupid, but I'd like to do the oil/filter myself in the summer months, then in the winter put it in the garage for the 'real' service.
Now, my main problem.....
I am going on a 3-4,000 mile road trip in her next month! But, all the fluids are all at the perfect level, and I have had no problems with brakes etc etc.
I can understand people saying definitely get it done before I go, which would make sense.
But I think I would rather wait until Nov to do the 60,000/72month service. Am I being stupid?

Has the cambelt been changed? 5 years or 50k in the book. You've gone well over in terms of age and belts do deteriorate (slightly) with age.
My STi is exactly the same age as yours and I had the belt done a few months ago even though there was only 31k on the clock. All the other stuff, I do myself, keeping a full record and reciepts.
I believe your car is now producing decent power, as is mine, and I change oil/filter every 3k (6 monthly) in fact, everything more often than the book says!
As you've done 5k since the last change, I would personally, do one now.

Yeah, the Cam Belt service was done in November, along with all the additional things like plugs etc.
I am doing oil now, probably this weekend, weather permitting.
Just wondered if the other fluids will last until the end of the year, or I should definitly get it done now.

You're coming up for the second transmission fluid change and brake fluid? They'll last till the end of the year ok if you don't fancy doing them right now. The g'box/front diff. and rear diff. are easy enough, the brake fluid is a bit more involved. Don't forget the petrol filter!
