Sorry yes, there is only 4 holes. this was my concern. 4 bolts holding on a gearbox with what will be around 350lb/tq when i map her safe.
should i tap a few more holes into the block?
Matrix, is this the normal way to do it then?(apart from being only way at present )
Thanks for replies lads

Hi Dave,
your Idea of tapping a few ore holes in the block sounds quite good.
All CDB's only had the 4 fixings and i do not believe any more would be required, all TY752 gearboxes have 4 bolt fixings, and the TY754 casings have IIRC 8 fixings, I know of a few people running TY752 boxes with over 400 BHP and 400 ft/lb and their have been no issues.
The first CDB conversion i done into a Bugeye I too was concerned, however i contacted Dave, one of the Mechanics at Tiley of Bristol (Main Subaru Dealer) and he told me to just use the 4 and it will be fine.

One thing to look out for, the CDB mounting for the starter has a stud sticking out on the gearbox to bolt the bottom of the starter in place. The 8 bolt setup uses a bolt through the starter and gearbox then into the block. To get around this I usually tap a m12 thread into the gearbox, you can then use a 12mm bolt to hold the bottom of the starter.

is that how its done then lads, leave the 4 holes to mount the box(serious enough power on here running just 4) and tap the gearbox only to hold the starter on?
sorry if sounds like going in circles lads but i want to get it right first time, to much spent to mess up at the finish
