How do i go about de-restricting my JDM WRX??
As title, car i've just bought is still restricted, how do i go about getting it de-restricted??
And if i leave it restricted, will this affect the overall power of the vehicle??
Cheers, Mark

For classics early (92-96)had a mechanical converter fitted to them to change speedo and odometer readings.
Later models are electronic speedos and have an electronic converter which plugs into the back of the speedo head (as uk300 said).
for newage cars i've no idea.
Power will not be affected

As above, thats what I did - electronic delimiter in my case - speedo then reads in mph, so I used a small piece of black tape over the k so it read m/h instead of km/h - job done
I took a note of the odometer reading at the time of the change - after this it clocks miles instead of kms so its worth knowing when it changed to help work out the total mileage later on
Also if you have an electronic dash and get a delimiter chip then definitely solder the connections - I used block connectors to begin with and it wasn't a happy car - had check engine light now and again and speedo was a bit flaky etc
