Default Fitting MY01> STI TMIC

Could anyone please give a brief description or point me in the right direction of a past thread (cant find one in archives) for fitting an Impreza STI version 7 onwards TMIC into a 1997 Impreza WRX.

Cheers, Mark

why not fit a 2002/3 WRX tmic ?

its not that much smaller and alot easier to fit, think only about 2" square difference so not a great deal and alot easier,no cutting of clutch fluid bottle etc, i only had to re-shape the gearbox support bracket bit of metal on the bulkhead

Hoping to achieve around 400bhp at the minute... would the WRX TMIC not limit me to around 350bhp??

Thinking about just going for a FMIC, does anyone have opinions on how the Scoobyclinic FMIC performs???

I fitted an STI 8 top mount to an STi 3 Wagon and while it was a definate improvement it was a limited improvement and after not very long I went front mount intercooler, kits which I sell £350. If you are going for 400 bhp I would suggest you will find the front mount a far better route and a lot less fitting hassle.
Prior to fitting we did a maximum power run at 392 bhp with the STi 8 TMIC. Immediately after fitting 401 bhp prior to mapping and 409 bhp after mapping same day.
The FMIC had the temperatures under control but the results from the STi 8 TMIC left something to be desired. The car is fitted with air charge temperature monitoring so it was possible to get a direct comparison of performance.
